Summer updates from Story Box Library

Story Box Library (SBL)’s Summer Story and Activity Challenge is back! Download resources to keep kids reading, engaged and visiting their libraries during the holiday break, designed to complement library reading programs.

In a two-part blog series on how libraries support mental health and wellbeing, SBL spoke with Frankie Jaiyeola, from State Library Queensland and Pip Mullins from City of Melville Libraries in Western Australia.

Explore story releases:

  • Capturing the sheer wonder of this migratory journey of the godwit bird, Circle reminds us of the global interdependence of nature. Created by Jeannie Baker and read by artist Sarah Allen in her studio.
  • The Imagineer is a beautiful story about an inquisitive little girl whose imagination is sparked by the things around her. Written by Christopher Cheng, illustrated by Lucia Masciullo, and read by Megan Daley.
  • From celebrated author Mem Fox and illustrator Terry Denton, Night Noises is about ninety year-old Lily Laceby and her dog, Butch Aggie, on one wild winter evening when strange noises begin to echo. Read by Frankie Jaiyeola at the State Library of Queensland.
  • Bad Apple is the first title in a laugh-out-loud new series of picture books starring a truly terrible piece of fruit. Written by Huw Lewis Jones, illustrated by Ben Sanders, and read by comedian Steph Tisdell.
