August updates from Story Box Library

With covid-19 restrictions still happening across Australia, Story Box Library (SBL) is sharing five ways for library staff and patrons to make the most of SBL.

Discover story releases in partnership with Melbourne Writers Festival, featuring famous storytellers and favourite titles. Engage library patrons with brand-new downloadable SBL bookmarks, shareable social media tiles, and more, plus stickers are available upon request.

Watch SBL’s first online PD event, a step-by-step guide to using all features and functions, contributing towards LIANZA professional registration and the ALIA PD Scheme.

Explore new story releases:

  • When Arno loses his precious toy horse, all the kids ?in town help him to look for it. Arno and His Horse is a beautiful story to help kids navigate loss and grief, written by Jane Godwin, illustrated by Felicita Sala, and read by singer-songwriter Paul Dempsey.
  • Read by Paul Dempsey, I Saw Pete and Pete Saw Me, is a moving story told from a child's perspective, about noticing what others don’t, and the complex issue of homelessness. Written by Maggie Hutchings, illustrated by Evie Barrow.
  • From Jane Godwin and illustrator Anna Walker, Don’t Forget is about remembering all the small things children can do to be a part of the big world. Read by Indigenous Australian singer and songwriter Emma Donovan.
  • Set in the rugged Australian bush, Found is about a small calf who becomes separated from his family. Written by Bruce Pascoe, illustrated by Charmaine Ledden-Lewis, and read by Emma Donovan.
