Introducing SBL’s first Auslan release! Read by singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke for Melbourne Writers Festival and translated into Auslan by Jason Alford from Auslan Consultancy, How to Make a Bird is a beautiful picture book by Meg McKinlay and Matt Ottley. Stories in this series will be released over the coming months, in a project that has been assisted through a grant received from the Telematics Trust.

  • Read by author Alice Pung for Melbourne Writers Festival, The Unwilling Twin is a funny story about a young girl called Jules, and her pet pig George who are the same in every way. From award-winning creator Freya Blackwood.
  • With a strong message of interconnectedness, hope and empowerment, This Small Blue Dot follows a little girl exploring the big and small things in life. Created by Zeno Sworder, and read by Alice Pung for Melbourne Writers Festival.
  • What happens when young and sweet Georgie learns these two small words... No! Never! is written by Libby Hathorn and Lisa Hathorn-Jarman, illustrated by Mel Pearce, and read by Michala Banas.
  • We Love You, Magoo is a perfect read-aloud picture book that captures a family dog’s energy and emotion in every line, from creator Briony Stewart, and read by Michala Banas.
  • Spend a day engrossed with Australia's most vibrant and unique feathered friends. Busy Beaks is written, illustrated and read by Sarah Allen.
  • Following a curious child as they navigate the endless possibilities of the world through their imagination, You Might Find Yourself is created and read by Tai Snaith.
